SNOWY SHAW Schedules One-Off Show Featuring Appearances By MOTÖRHEAD, KING DIAMOND Members
March 21, 2011Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw has scheduled a special concert on Friday, May 27 at the Brew House in Gothenburg, Sweden. The one-off event, which will be professionally filmed and recorded for future DVD release, will see Shaw perform "all his favorite songs" from "all his former bands" — including KING DIAMOND, NOTRE DAME, DREAM EVIL, MERCYFUL FATE, THERION, MEMENTO MORI, ILLWILL, XXX and DIMMU BORGIR) — and will feature guest appearances by Mikkey Dee (MOTÖRHEAD, KING DIAMOND) and Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND, ILLWILL).
A short question-and-answer session with Snowy Shaw regarding the upcoming concert (provided exclusively to BLABBERMOUTH.NET):
Q: Which other musicians will make up the core band for this show?
Snowy: "Apart from the guest appearances, my core band consists of Kristian Niemann (ex-THERION) on lead guitar, Mannequin De Sade (ex-NOTRE DAME, ENGEL) on drums, and phenomenal female bassist/singer Hellinor Asp."
Q: Is this strictly a one-off or is there a possibility of other gigs in other territories?
Snowy: "We'll do this show first and then I guess we'll see what happens. Unfortunately, I think it's way too late now to book festivals shows for this summer, which would be the absolute perfect place for this spectacular live show and performance. I certainly wouldn't mind touring all the four corners of the world with it though, but like I said, we'll see what happens."
Q: What prompted you to stage this unusual concert?
Snowy: "First of all, few people been involved in as many bands as I have, and over the years people kept saying I should revive NOTRE DAME, reunite with KING DIAMOND or MEMENTO MORI, or that DREAM EVIL wasn't as good without me and so on. Personally, I'm not a big fan of moving backwards, but this concept is something altogether new and fresh, perhaps even unique. To the best of my knowledge, I don't know of anyone else who've done anything like this before, and I feel really excited and optimistic about it. From the moment it first crossed my mind and the more I thought about it, I loved the idea of offering people a kick-ass 'best- of' show with all the favorites, classics and hits of all my former bands together with my all-star band and occasional special guest stars connected to those bands. And so far people seem to love the idea and concept, and the response has been nothing less than great."
